The “101 Things I Learned” series of books is geared towards the “sophisticated beginner”, and encompasses different topics such as engineering, architecture, design, film, etc,. This book, covering urban design principles, is laid out with an easy to navigate formula, with each of the 101 insights being reduced to a short, informative paragraph, and paired with a simple illustration. Each of the 101 lessons are presented for an engaged reader, such as a college student going in to the field, or a hobbyist looking for a survey of the topic. While each of the topics covered are presented succinctly, they are not dumbed down, and each could serve as an entry point for a deeper look into the field.
